The Bak Theatre Department has a proud heritage of offering a comprehensive theatre program that operates as a studio for instruction in performance and technical areas as well as a Theatre for Young Audiences offering high quality performances for our student population, visiting schools and the general public.

A schedule of performances and ticket information is available online at  We offer grade level showcases, short play festivals, musical revues and major productions.  Recent titles include Shakespeare’s As You Like It, the children’s play Wiley and the Hairy Man¸ the Broadway musical Into the Woods¸ contemporary theatre and original plays.

Affiliated with the Educational Theatre Association, Bak hosts a large Troupe of the Jr. International Thespian Society which offers all Bak students from all art departments the opportunity to develop their skills and interests in all aspects of theatre including performance events, playwriting, scenic design, set design, publicity design and the one act play.  Our troupe has earned top rating and Critic’s Choice awards year after year at the district and state level.

Our professional staff includes ‘Doctor’ Randy Booth, Musical Director and Vocal Coach; Wayne Steadman, Jr., Scenic Design and Technical Direction; Sandra Tepper, Acting, Directing and Movement; A. Jackson Pinkney, the Obligations of Theatre and Costuming; Richard Valentine, Acting, Directing, Improvisation and Arts Administration; and other guest artists.
